I got to quit my boring job, made lots of money and traveled the world. Or that the books would go on to sell over 15 million copies in 26 languages. I never imagined writing seventeen books, and more than a million words about James and his friends. James Adams was going to save the world while fighting, swearing, getting drunk, lusting after girls and using the toilet… I didn’t want clean cut heroes like Harry Potter or Alex Rider. I’d always wanted to be a writer, and his comment stuck in my mind for a few years, gradually turning into the idea for CHERUB.ĬHERUB was going to be about kids who lived in the real world.
